Consider the following question:
As you may know, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has a net worth of over 200 million dollars. Does the fact he is rich make you more likely or less likely to vote for him, or does it make no difference?
Overall, 20% of U.S. voters reported they are less likely to vote for Romney (37% democrats; 19% independents; and 4% republicans). While this is short of class warfare, it is evidence that Obama’s attempts to foster distrust of the rich are either effective or tapping into an existing sentiment. Either way, animus towards a class of persons based on their financial status is unsettling.
